1 in 3 East African Children Grows Up Without a Father

Across East Africa, single mothers raising children on their own continue to fuel many deep-rooted social and economic struggles. We believe that God designed the family to flourish with both a father and mother present. When fathers are absent, households face severe financial hardship, and children often grow up without a clear, healthy sense of identity. Even when fathers remain in the home, if they lack godly character and a committed drive to nurture well-grounded children, they risk continuing cycles of family breakdown and broader societal dysfunction.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Unlike traditional sponsorship programs, we do not offer sponsorship of an individual student, rather your support of the entire 8-student group we our "cohort". We offer support options starting at $30 a month, or you can pay yearly.

When students are considered eligible for the program, they are offered the opportunity and given the choice to decline. If they want to participate in the program, they are required to sign a contract and agree to a "Code of Conduct" to be enrolled. This gives them the the opportunity to feel a sense of "ownership" to the program. Their family is also consulted about enrolling in the program. Besides the student choosing to be in the program, their is no financial requirement placed on the student or the family. They are chosen partly because they have a great financial need, and their sponsorship will cover 100% of the cost of their education and financial needs.

Yes! Part of the reason we are wanting to have sponsors support the entire group of young men is so they get the benefit of knowing many people are praying for and encouraging them along in their journey. If you would like to record a video or send a letter you can contact us support@lostcauses.net to find the easiest way to do that.

Your support goes to cover whatever the needs of the student are. The largest cost is the school fees because they are attending a private school high school. In addition, your support also goes towards other needs for the student, such as medical needs, scholastic materials, and future vocational programs they may join after high school. Also, the support covers the cost for the ministry (LOST CAUSES) to operate/facilitate the LOST BOYS program.

Yes! LOST CAUSES is registered as a 501(c)(3) non-profit by the IRS: EIN 37-1691471. We sent out yearly tax statements in January each year showing all your tax-deductible contributions for the previous year.
