We are on a mission to transform the lives of children in Africa.
We believe that no child should be left without access to the keys to a better life. We are providing quality learning opportunities to the most unseen and marginalized children in Uganda.
We work to offer a more holistic care approach
- Full K-12 Education
- Trauma healing and counseling
- Sponsorship School Flexibility
- Support Classes for Families
- Career Guidance
- Job Placement Assistance
- University Scholarship Applications
- Vocational Training Opportunities

One of the keys to lasting change in a young person's life is how they view themselves. We can give them all the "tools" through education but if we don't help them understand who their identity is in Christ, they are never really able to live a rich and fulfilling life as God intends.

This is Akongo Joan
Joan, a senior high school student at Rock High School, faced a bleak future after finishing 7th grade at a public school. Unable to afford fees, she dropped out for a year and nearly quit again the next year. A sponsor stepped in to cover her school fees. Joan has excelled in high school and is finishing out her high school with the volunteer’s support. She’ll take her final exams in November, 2025 and hopes to attend university in 2026 to become a teacher and help other children. Joan loves kids, baking, and singing, and as a devoted Christian, she trusts God will guide her forward.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How are kids chosen for sponsorship?
Children are chosen based on their individual circumstances. Our administrators at the school will visit with the families, understand their situation to determine the need. If the parents are able to financially support a portion of the tuition, this becomes an expectation that they also contribute for their students education. Because each student and family dynamic is different, we will often look at ALL the factors in a students situation to determine eligibility and the best way to help them.
Can I sponsor a student for less than $41 a month?
You are able to donate at any amount, however $41/mo. is our base amount for sponsoring an individual student. If you can give at a lower amount, consider giving towards our IMPACT FUND which helps meet the need of a variety of challenges students face.
Can I communicate with my sponsored student?
Yes! We actually send videos several times per year from your student, which generates and email right to your inbox. Once you open it, there is an option to send a video reply very easily right from the email. Sponsors often will communicate back and forth with their students. Additionally, we send 1 written letter from your student per year.
Can I visit my sponsored student?
Yes! We would love for you to come on one of our missions to Uganda. You would be able to visit with and spend substantial time getting to know your sponsored student(s). Sign up for our newsletter to find out when we open registration for our next mission.
Are my donations tax-deductible?
Yes! LOST CAUSES is registered as a 501(c)(3) non-profit by the IRS: EIN 37-1691471. We sent out yearly tax statements in January each year showing all your tax-deductible contributions for the previous year.
What does the $41/mo. sponsorship cost provide for the student?
Your monthly sponsorship means that everything a student needs to go to school will be provided for them. In addition to covering their school fees and daily meals while at school, an administrator will determine if the student has any additional needs such as scholastic materials, uniform, etc. and make sure they are provided for.
What makes LOST CAUSES unique?
Our focus is a bit different than other organizations, where they might offer programs around education of a students, our focus is on developing the whole child, offering additional mentorship and counseling opportunities while children are in school, as well as vocational training opportunities and job placement assistance once they graduate.
CAN'T SPONSOR BUT STILL WANT TO HELP?
Every dollar helps a child in need. If you can give at a lower amount than sponsoring a student, consider giving towards our IMPACT FUND which helps meet the need of a variety of challenges students face.
